Now that we have a wrap on the 2024 NWSL season, let’s take a second to honor those given end-of-season awards across the league.

Lauren Holiday Impact Award

Bay FC defender Jen Beattie was chosen as the 2024 recipient. The initiative recognizes a NWSL player nominee for outstanding service and character off the field. Beattie designated Pink Ribbon Good to receive $30,000 to support its mission and ongoing initiatives.

To celebrate the award, Beattie has designated that her Bay Area community partner, Pink Ribbon Good, will receive $30,000 to support its mission and ongoing initiatives.

Pink Ribbon Good assists those affected by breast and gynecological cancer by providing free healthy meals, rides to treatment, house cleaning essentials and peer support.

Beattie recognized a gap in awareness and education around breast cancer, which motivated her to use her platform as a professional athlete to promote early detection in both women and men.

You can learn more about the award and Beattie’s efforts in the NWSL release.

2024 Most Valuable Player

Kansas City Current forward Temwa Chawinga was selected as the 2024 MVP.

Chawinga set a new single-season league record with 20 goals, scoring in eight straight games from June 9 to September 7. Chawinga capped off the season by becoming the first player to score against all opponents in a single NWSL season with 10 or more teams.

2024 Defender of the Year

Orlando Pride defender Emily Sams was selected as the 2024 Defender of the Year. The Pride defense conceded just 20 goals, tied for fewest in the league. Sams played in 25 matches, including all 13 of the Pride’s shutouts.

2024 Midfielder of the Year, Rookie of the Year

Bethune topped the league in assists during the regular season and tied the single-season record for assists. In May, she also became the first rookie in league history to record three assists in one game.

In addition to the award, Croix Bethune will also receive a cash bonus from the NWSL and Ally to celebrate her accomplishments from her first season in the NWSL.
