Kansas City Current wins the 2024 NWSL x Liga MSF Summer Cup Challenge

A brace by Temwa Chawinga (from Lo' Eau LaBonta both goals) in the first half at Toyota Field in San Antonio, led the Kansas City Current to a 2-0 win over NJ/NY Gotham FC to claim the Championship of the NWSL x Liga MSF Summer Cup Challenge.


The 26-year-old phenom forward from Malawi, Chawinga leads the league in goals scored (20) in 25 matches played. The next nearest goal scorer is Barbra Banda (Orlando Pride) with 13 goals in 21 matches.


The regular season weekend finale is Friday, November 1 through Sunday, November 3, and the top eight squads will advance to the playoffs.
