March 7, ORLANDO, Fla. -- It was a rematch of the 2024 NWSL Championship final but with a different outcome, as the Orlando Pride and Washington Spirit played to a draw, 1-1, on Friday night at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando.
Rafaelle Souza (Defender, Orl) opened the scoring in the 41st minute and Leicy Santos (Midfielder, Wash) equalized with a goal in the 71st minute.
The Challenge Cup match is not part of the regular season standings as opening week action begins on Friday, March 14, when Houston Dash hosts Washington Spirit and Orlando Pride welcomes the rebranded Chicago Stars FC.
